A Brief Biography
Bill Cline spent 14 years at Accenture and its predecessor Andersen
Consulting as the global managing partner for the capital markets
industry practice and client partner for firms such as Goldman Sachs,
NYSE, and NASDAQ. As the industry managing partner, he led major
engagements such as the launch of new electronic markets such as
the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and FXall and the multi-year
outsourced management of all trading floor operations for a large,
global investment bank. The financial markets industry comprised
Accenture professionals around the world and included responsibilities
for sales & market offerings, M&A, marketing & media
relations, and global training. Few executives have Bill's insights
into how and why the financial markets work, its drivers of innovation,
competitive differentiation and operational excellence, the commercial
marketplace for data, systems and services, and likely trends and
implications for the future of the capital markets.
Prior to Accenture, he was a successful entrepreneur and top executive
with a history of innovation in the capital markets, first as a
principal at Rich Inc. (sold to Reuters in 1986), FD Consulting
(sold to CSK in 1993), and finally as a founder of Acai Solutions
which is still in operation. He is well known in the industry for
the functional design and global launch of Triarch, the first
distributed trading and market data messaging architecture. Many
Triarch innovations in reliable multicast data distribution,
high availability, datafeed processing, and application integration
still form important components of Triarch's successor RMDS
now marketed by Reuters. While at Reuters following their acquisition
of Rich, Bill led the design and launch of Marketfeed 2000,
the industry's first high speed datafeed aggregating global equities
data from the world's exchanges for high speed, message-based delivery.
At FD Consulting, he designed improvements to legacy EAI and messaging
techniques to further reduce latency and speed downstream application
integration, while the company's TIPS was the financial industry's
first commercial ticker plant capable of processing exchange direct
datafeeds and handle the associated complexities of corrections
processing and times series data.
As managing partner of The Cline Group, he continues to do all
of the instruction for our training courses and leads select consulting
or research engagements. In addition, he is a council member and
educator available for phone and in person consultations through
both the Gerson Lehrman Group
and Vista Research. Mr.
Cline is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and company
meetings, and his commentaries on major trends and news in the global
capital markets have been featured on CNBC, Bloomberg TV and newswires,
NPR Marketplace and Talk of the Nation, Reuters & Dow Jones
Newswires, Marketwatch, Wall St. Journal, USA Today, NY Times, Securities
Industry News, Information Week, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Wall Street
& Technology, and many other leading publications. Our media
